Am now up to Ep 6 of Season 7... ANd had noticed that Mark and Brendon have kind of been pushed to the background. In an episode Mark was seen eating chocolates with the others but had no lines.
Then I realized after watching it... Brendon (Josh Byrne) isn't even in the opening family scene in the kitchen before the episode actually starts.
I read some where that he didn't want to come back after the 6th season and the show was cancelled. The 7th season was picked up by a different network.
The whole show took a major dive for me when Cody disappeared, replaced by Jean-luc and Lilly grew up from a baby to 5-6 years old within a few episodes.
Mum and I think the same thing about post-Cody. I was a fan of Pinchot (Jean Luc) from Perfect Strangers but they seemed to play with Jean Luc a bit much. Went from a well known hair dresser to someone who didn't cut hair.
Didn't know it was cancelled then picked up again. Hate it when some shows just age kids a few years and also disappearing characters even though Cody was mentioned having a job in russia so hasn't totally been forgotten
Ha. I forgot Pinchot was ever in this show, but remember now. I barely remember anything about those episodes, so can't really say if I liked them. I still liked the previous season, though.
A couple of years back on Reddit, there was a former child star who anonymously posted about what it was like to work on the set of a successful family sitcom in the '90s. Apparently, there were a lot of child predators, and he and another boy his age on set were molested by a producer. They eventually gathered the nerve to tell the female star of the show and her response was “Well, you wanted to be in show business...”
Some Reddit sleuths were able to deduct that it was most likely Josh Byrne. If so, that would explain the weight gain. It was probably emotional eating and trying to look less appealing to his predator.
Re: [R15] I think is the little kid from SbS, Josh Byrne. The actor who got arrested could be Sasha Mitchell, who was popped for spousal abuse several times. The kid who went on to his own Disney show and 'went crazy' may not have been on SbS. He only says 'this other kid'

Byrne was dismissed his last year of the show and had put on weight.
He is completely out of the business now and still a bit chubby but not bad looking.
The only person that abused him on set was the creepy producer and he knew that his other young brother (Christopher Castile, who also left the business) was also being abused.
But the actor who took him on weekends with another child actor who later went to Disney and went crazy - all those people were not from Step by Step. Read it again and you'll see it all makes sense. Do Sasha is off the hook, and so is the other teen actor who also developed addictions got fat and even got shot .
Finally, Stephen Collins never admitted to having sex with underage girls. His wife took declarations he made in therapy about FANTASIZING about little girls and made them public in a nasty divorce.7th Heaven doesn't fit at all- no child actor got fat or left the biz.

I got a Shia LaBeouf vibe from the mention of the co-star who went on to do a Disney show and lost his mind.

[R126] The Disney actor from Step by Step could be Jason Marsden. Check his resume on imdb. He has been in a lot of Disney stuff, mostly animated. He kind of looks like Shawn Mendes in this pic, when he was younger.
One time, we had a haunted house constructed on the set and we were all hiding and jumping out at each other. This producer told me to go in a closet with him so we could scare people. He held me close and he made out with me. I was 10.
If this is truly about Step by Step and Josh Byrne then, he must be referring to the episode "Something Wild" from Season 4.
I'd be careful of the shit that many "celebrity" confessions that are posted on reddit, as they could be random people posting any stories while trying to pose as a former child actor.
I don't think it's Josh Byrne (Brendan) either, because Step by Step finished in 1998, and the guy that's posting this story is saying that people bug him for a reunion for a show that finished 14 years ago. The post was from 4 years ago, people want a tv show reunion 10 years prior to that timeline, therefore (10+4=14). SbS finished 22 years ago, the numbers don't add up.
The reddit poster should come clean with his/her identity, and name their abusers otherwise they'll look like a liar trying to seek attention or forgotten fame.
Another theory is that the supposed Reddit poster was actually Erik Per Sullivan, who was Dewey on Malcolm in the Middle. One tip off is that the actor who played the dad is more famous now than he was when he was doing the prior show. This could naturally be about Bryan Cranston, who is more than likely more known now for Breaking Bad than he was for Malcolm in the Middle. For what it's worth, MITM wrapped up its run on May 14, 2006, which is almost 15 years ago now.
Not exactly. When one is "written out" of a show, there will be a plot point that gives a reason for the character's absence, like that character dying or moving away, as opposed to disappearing without explanation.
