When did you stop watching Nick?

Abd how old are you?
I'm 25 (gonna be 26 in less than a month)
I guess 1998 is when I stopped watchin nickelodeon, I do remember when catdog came on so that was fall 1998, so it wasn't long after that when I stopped watchin, I know it was before spongebob began, which I never had an interest of ever watching, and thus stopped watchin nick, then again dec 98 I was 14 so yea guess I grew out of it.

I of course do think nick of the late 80s - mid 90s was the best :)
Interstingly most shows ive rewatched, like when Nick GaS was a channel, but also shows like salute your shorts, are you afraid of the dark via youtube.
I haven't rewatched doug til now, I was browsin on demand and checked nick to see if it had any old shows and it did, a few doug episodes so I watched it, so fun to watch it 13 years later or so, and especially that blog that points out how crazy doug is, is great.

I'm also 25 (born in 1986) and stopped watching during the time of Catdog, Angry Beavers and late Hey Arnold. I did come back to Nick later on to see Early Spongebob which was classic, (Squilliam returns anyone?) but overall I miss the classics that are currently playing and can not wait for the next cycle of shows. Salute Your Shorts and Are You Afraid of the Dark PLEASE!

reply

I don't remember when I started watching, but I stopped around the time that Hey Arnold and Angry Beavers came out.

Doug (my favorite! Still love it!)
Rugrats (old episodes are pretty funny, but they were on a lot so I usually only watched if nothing was on. Once Dil was on there though, I was done with it.)
Salute Your Shorts (love it!)
Hey Dude (vague memories of it)
Ren and Stimpy (love it)
All That (love it)
Are You Afraid of the Dark? (vague memories)
What Would You Do?

& who can forget Stick Stickly! I still kind of remember the song he would sing for the address...PO box something something 3 New York City, New York State, 10108! Haha!

The shows after I stopped watching

CatDog (stupid.)
Hey Arnold (this one seemed funny enough, but I guess I was kinda outgrowing Nick at this point)
Angry Beavers (meh.)
SpongeBob (Wasn't really into it until I had a younger cousin born later in my life who watched all the time. The older episodes are hilarious)

I am 26 (born in 1985) and I stopped watching Nick during the summer of 1996, right before I entered middle school. It was at that time that I became more interested in teen shows and I started watching MTV a lot.

I am 40... I watched this when I was 20. I could relate to Doug as he was often the odd man out.. He was one of those kids that daydreamed a lot.. Loved to draw..

Nick was one of the best networks back in the day.. These days Sponge bob is all that is really on... He is so STUPID...

I would rather watch Doug and Mr Dink... At least Doug was cool... I will watch the ones on my DVR until I can get the DVDs...

I am 24 , watched nick since I was four years old,(in fact, the premiere of Nickelodeon's first nicktoons occured a day after my birthday) I stopped watching nick when I entered high school. I stopped watching after they started airing all the nicktoons I grew up with and when the quality of animation went down. The last good cartoon on nick was invader zim.

I'm 26 and stopped watching Nick regularly in about 2000-2001. By that time I was a freshman/sophomore in high school and just thought the new shows sucked to be honest. I loved the early shows like Doug, Pete & Pete, Salute Your Shorts, etc....after about '99, Nick died for me.

I'm 22 and probably stopped watching it around 2003. My younger brother watched it often afterward so I did see certain shows released between 2004 and 2007, but I stopped actively watching around 2003.

I'm 28 and I completely stopped watching around 2002, basically around the time they completely shafted Invader Zim and Adult Swim was at it's best. I slowly stopped watching it when I hit High School, only watching it late at night (i.e. 5 or 6am) for Doug/Rocko/Classic Rugrats repeats and occasionally early Saturday morning for Angry Beavers (really the last great Nicktoon) and sometimes Sponge Bob. By that point Cartoon Network started having their Toonami block (which eventually became naptime for me during my Junior and Senior years as I'd often fall asleep while watching it), plus their original programing was really starting to outshine Nick.

Now both networks have gone downhill, Adult Swim is just a shell of it's former self and both networks original programming is complete crap. However, I sometimes watch iCarly with my niece and it's actually not that bad, it's very reminiscent of old Nick and feels like an updated version of Clarissa.

Because sponges never have bad days.

I just turned 27

I only watched Doug, Rocko's Modern Life, Aaaah Real Monsters, and Hey Arnold.

When those shows were cancelled/moved to Disney/ or ended, I pretty much lost all interest in watching Nickelodeon and was totally taken over by Cartoon Network's Toonami.

I stopped sometime in hs in the late 1990s. By that time all the good shows were over. Doug ended in 1994 apparently. Are You Afraid of the Dark. Salute Your Shorts. Nick At Nite. Man. I feel old. I used to plan my Saturdays out so I could be back in time to watch Nick. Now I hardly recognize it and I only watch it late at night when there is nothing else on.

Right now I'm watching a 1991 episode of Doug on Teen Nick or whatever it is called.

Well, first run episodes of Doug ended in 1994 (allegedly, January 2nd was the last original air date). But it continued in reruns many years after, which is what most people remember watching as that's when the show became the second highest rated show on Nickelodeon and on cable. It was still airing at 7 PM ET weeknights (and in other time slots throughout the week as well) through at least June of 1999, and even in 2003, it still aired at 6:30 AM ET, though at that point, the writing was obviously on the wall that it was headed off the network, as it was gone completely a year later.

Those reruns of Doug and Rugrats were a staple of the network - the feature shows of Nickelodeon's weekday prime time, as well as serving as key lead-in shows for SNICK and being the feature of Saturday mornings.

Never stopped, started watching it in the early 90's.

Well I actually watch Teennick now, but I still watch new episodes of Victorious.

I honestly don't think I ever stopped completely, but I did stop watching for a couple of years.

I'm 21 (born in 1991), so I grew up with the original Rugrats, Doug, Angry Beavers, Aahhh! Real Monsters etc. I remember watching Hey Arnold, Cat Dog, and Fairy Odd Parents. I even remember watching the veeery first episode of Spongebob the first time it premiered. I think I started to grow out of Nick around the time the Rugrats started doing the All Grown Up series. I liked the special they did, but I guess the premise got stale after a while. I also remember growing bored of Spongebob and Fairy Odd Parents around that time, so..yeah.

But, I did start back watching it again around the time The Naked Brothers Band came out, and it's been on and off since then. They had some really good shows that threw me back to the 90's like Ned's Declassified (really funny) and even the recently cancelled Victorious.

I've never fooled anyone. I've let people fool themselves.
