When did you stop watching Nick?

Abd how old are you?
I'm 25 (gonna be 26 in less than a month)
I guess 1998 is when I stopped watchin nickelodeon, I do remember when catdog came on so that was fall 1998, so it wasn't long after that when I stopped watchin, I know it was before spongebob began, which I never had an interest of ever watching, and thus stopped watchin nick, then again dec 98 I was 14 so yea guess I grew out of it.

I of course do think nick of the late 80s - mid 90s was the best :)
Interstingly most shows ive rewatched, like when Nick GaS was a channel, but also shows like salute your shorts, are you afraid of the dark via youtube.
I haven't rewatched doug til now, I was browsin on demand and checked nick to see if it had any old shows and it did, a few doug episodes so I watched it, so fun to watch it 13 years later or so, and especially that blog that points out how crazy doug is, is great.

I never stopped. I am watching it especially now seeing as many old shows have returend (including Doug sometimes).

I'm 29. I stopped around the time All That was getting all the new kids and Amanda and the NEW Are You Afraid of the Dark? episodes(I think it was the last season). That's around 1999, I think.

Though I did wind up catching Avatar, which I admit, was probably one of my favorite Nick cartoons ever(especially considering I'm an old school Nick fan, raised in Pinwheel, Today's Special and You Can't Do That on Television).

I stopped when they took this show off the air this was my favorite show when I was little but now I have the first 2 seasons on dvd so I'm good.:)

Well, my first network love was nickelodeon until around 96 when cartoon network came along because they had classic action cartoons. it wasnt until 2003 or 2004 did i start watching it again because i fell in love with danny phantom, fairly odd parents, my dad is a rock star, nick teen choice awards, and i cant remember anymore right now. But i disliked angry beavers and catdog and catscratch. until about 2007 when icarly came into play i stopped really liking nickelodeon and couldnt go back to cartoon network because of the abominable show flapjack. i mostly watch nbc nowadays and watch the qubo block on saturday mornings (age 22)

Stupidity, go find pleasure.

I can't remember exactly but stopped watching in 2004 i was about 15. I started watching The N with Degrassi and i was officially done when they canceled THE N and the shows on it like Instant Star, South Of Nowhere and The Best Years. It is all crap now. I think the only show i can sort of stomach is I-carly.

Im 22, i watched it from 1996 to 2006, after they cancelled Jimmy Neutron. I watch it time to time when new episodes of Fairly oddparents are on and maybe a episode or two of Spongebob, but its not like back in elementry school where i would watch that channel 24/7

I stopped watching for a while around 2001, when The Amanda Show finished, and started watching again in about 2004 when Drake and Josh started. I was curious about watching Drake and Josh as they were also in The Amanda Show. I think it was about 2005/2006 when i stopped watching completely .

lets see... i cant remember exactly when it was that it started to die some, i do remember the all that cast changing and etc. but... really since then, I will watch Spongebob and Fairly Oddparents lol. Avatar was awesome too. Other than that I really don't watch it much at all anymore. I don't think I grew out of it really, it was more towards the shows just weren't that funny to me lol. I actually watched more CN for a minute there, Johnny Bravo, Cow & Chicken, etc.

It was the change of programming I think.

The early '00s... right around the time "Hey Arnold" was cancelled.

I'm gonna start a {r/e/v/o/l/u/t/i/o/n} from my bed.

I stopped watching around the same time. When Hey Arnold and All That were getting big. I used to watch Rugrats because it was on all the time but nothing was ever as good as Doug. It was like the Wonder Years of cartoons.

reply

My experience is similar...I'm 29, and faithfully watched Nickelodeon up until about 1998. I remember "Hey Arnold" and "Catdog" but I never really could get into them....like most of you, I was a huge Doug, Rugrats, Are you Afraid of the Dark?, and even a Clarissa fan (god, I hate admitting that). I don't know if the shows just became less interesting or I simply became too old. Ironically, I watch a lot of new Nick now...I have a couple of kids that are really getting into the iCarly, Good Luck Charlie, Wizards, stuff (actually that's probably disney). Funny...what goes around comes around!

reply

Admit it man, Clarrisa rules! I just turned 24 I guess I stopped watching in the late 90s early 2000s. Salute Your Shorts and Are You Afraid of the Dark were my favorites.

reply

i'm 22 and i stopped watching Nick around the introduction of Dil Pickle to the Rugrats and those shows, Rocket Power and As Told By Ginger. just stopped being funny man

As soon as they gave that Amanda girl her own show I think is when I officially threw in the towel. They started really dumbing things down around that time or maybe I was just getting too old for it? I don't think so though because I can still watch most of the early 90's stuff to this day and still enjoy it. I mean back then even their crappy shows were still good. I could be just having a get off my lawn type moment but I really think nickelodeons best days are well behind em.(Can't really say that either though, I haven't watched it in probably 10 years)

reply

I was born in 1984 and I stopped watching right around the time that Hey Arnold came out. I'm guessing 1997 was when I quit. All the shows I liked such as Hey Dude, Wild and Crazy Kids, Salute Your Shorts and Doug were being shown less or not at all. Doug was on ABC but it wasn't the same anymore. Rugrats was just one of those shows I'd watch if nothing else was on.

The new shows like All That and Kenan and Kel were terrible. I remember trying to get into them but I just couldn't. Kel acted like he was on crack the whole time and it was just too goofy and random for me. Maybe I was a little too old for it by then but I couldn't see myself watching it when I was younger either.

It was just kind of the end of an era and the beginning of a new one. I could see kids my age watching Hey Arnold for a few more years but I couldn't get into it. I'm glad Teen Nick is showing some of the old shows again. Clarissa is really cheesy but nothing compared to how bad Kenan and Kel is. Doug is still just as awesome as I remember it. Although the episodes seem shorter to me. Doug is like the Wonder Years of Nickelodean. I can still feel how I used to relate to him, even when I watch it now.

reply

Whaaaat. Kel is hilarioussss. Maybe it's just not your type of humor? Because I know people older than you that think that show was funny.

I'm 29...I began to lose interest around 1995 or 1996.

reply

I think I stopped around '97-98ish, I lost most interest in their new shoes...yet again, I'm 25 now so I was almost a teenager then, so I was more into the WB and MTV
