Laurie, Ricter and Doug in a love triangle competition?

Why would Laurie waste all that time with a balding middle aged man where Doug/Quaid was younger and in better shape anyway?

He was a bad boy which is an attraction to girls, and she was no saint herself, so I guess they had that in common?

Besides, she was willing to let Doug bone her under the pretence of her being his girl for a while, so it seemed her and Richter weren't the tightest or that they minded an open relationship. In fact I don't remember him being too devastated about her death.

Fun Fact: Michael Ironside(Richter) was only 39 during filming and is 3 years younger than Arnold. Perhaps Laurie simply loved the man for his charming personality so decided not to divorce him & run away with Quaid because he was more buff & had hair. Quaid was just a job to her and I'm sure she hated every minute of it....

This is an amazing tidbit. I see this topic come up a lot in many discussions across many platforms. But I'm a middle aged man with a dad beer belly and my wife is hot AF. How the hell that happened, I don't really know, but we are very happy with each other.
