Why people see Stuckey as the bad guy?

In real life Edward would live to regret for not listen Stuckey

The Stuck was right all along

First of all they have a very succeful and profitable bussiness now all of the sudden Edward is negelecting his responsabilities when they are closer to close one big deal in wich they have been working a lot, ¿and for what? to go to the park with a whore

Stuckey treat Vivian like a whore and she is a whore he souldn't hit her that was a pussy move but he is right to be angry and frustrated Edward was obviously influenced by Vivian (a whore) when he chose, without consulting Stuckey, start a bussines making boats or something

Everything Edward did was wrong he at least should ask Stuck about it and really think about the change in the bussiness and mostly was wrong marryng a whore sorry but be fucked every night by a bunch of strangers for god know how long in exchange for money is not a small thing she was damaged goods and stuckey try at least to explain this to his friend

reply

🤔🤔🤔 ....Because he was trying to rape her.

Just because she's a prostitute, she still gets a say in who to have sex with.

You need to learn about consent before you get arrested 🙄

reply

I watch the movie years ago so is not like i remember everything

I was clear he did wrong in hit her and if he try to rape her is a lot worse, but before that i tought the guy was kinda of reasonable and if that was real life Edward would end up regreting marry her and abandond his bussiness

reply

Edward didn't abandon his business. He took it in a different direction. He was going to work with Morris rather than dismantle his business.

reply

He kind of did. He was in liquidation business, most likely in form of private equity.

He was not supposed to invest his clients' money in a long term investment. So most likely he was investing his own money, then what happens to Stuckey and the rest of team? What happens to his investment firm which worked months on this?

When Edward left things with Stuckey, he did not exactly say this deal was an exception.

reply

I don't recall them having any client's money to invest unless i missed that part. It seemed the company was Edward's to do with what he wanted, and Stuckey was his lawyer who would benefit from a percentage of the deal. The rest of the suits were employees I presume.

reply

Remember their conversation about "You don't really have a billion dollars, do you?"

reply

Yes, but I'm assuming he arranges financing for the deals from banks. He might also borrow money from private investors at fixed percentages.

reply

Not really. This kind of business is usually private equity based, which takes wealthy investors, like KKR.

They can borrow money from banks, but they have to put their own money in as well. Like you borrow from banks to buy a house, you usually need a deposit.

By their own money, I mean those from the investors.

This kind of business is usually private equity based..

But we don't know for sure in Edward's case. Edward was portrayed as quite wealthy - this wasn't his first acquisition. This was a company he was running for a lot of years according to the story. I'm sure he had considerable resources of his own.

The less one borrows to finance a deal, the more profit there is.

reply

I don't think you understand financial industry, even one of the largest players like KKR, takes investors. You don't have to, but then again you won't be able to pull off billion dollar deals.

If Edward was working purely on his own, in financial circles, it means he was unsuccessful.

And why did he live in hotel penthouses? I think because he wanted to be perceived as successful, to draw investors.

reply

Since she is a prostitute, consent isn't required. A hooker cannot be raped. They have sex and lots of it

reply

I hope you know that’s nonsense. Of course consent is required. A prostitute gives consent when he/she has sexual activity with a client within the boundaries that they agree to. As for Vivian, she wasn’t working as a prostitute when Stuckey came into the apartment and neither was Stuckey a client. There was no consent and his actions were assault.

reply

Thanks for clarifying. Next time I will wait for consent before going about my business

reply

He probably thinks it's ok to rape his wife too 😒

reply

First of all, The Stuckster was trying to plow patch uninvited... that's a no-no, whore or not. And, as far as Edward, he's the brains. Stuck is just the little worm that gets the dirty work done. Edward decided that he didn't like not building anything. Anyone can understand a change of heart like that. And, who's to say that Edward partnering with Randolph Duke wasn't going to net him all kinds of fuck-you billions? Also, Stucks wife is more of a money-grubbing whore than Vivz was. I just always wondered if after Vivz fell for Zach Mayo (because she kissed him on the lips) that she let him rail her raw-dog.

reply

Beautifully said. Are you a poet?

reply

Thank you... I just have a way with words sometimes. :D

Stuckey is the bad guy because as Edward tells him just before tossing him out of the room:

(Paraphrased)

“I made you rich doing what you like best.”

Stuckey likes to tear people and I places down for the cruelty of it, not even the “progress” or “bidness”, or returning profit to the investors.

He freaks out because he’s been able to get his jollies all this time and nobody knows…but Stuckey is a junkie and the MOMENT the Morse deal starts slowing down, and that neuro chemical rush —watching people and established companies crumbling— isn’t arriving on schedule, and hen shows signs of not coming through, Stuckey starts jonesing, hard.

That’s why he shows up to terrorize and rape Vivian.
Atrocious at the plot point is, Stuckey is actually “making do” with one being.

He’s used to thousands of people crying at a time as he removes the reason for their job and town existing, for a quick profit.

He wants his fix and she’s the reason he just lost his best connection to his rush.

Edward calls it earlier:

“We both screw people for money.”

Stuckey sees himself as Edward’s pimp. Edward has made him a lot of money and got him off, reliably.

Vivian just helped Edward cut loose.

reply

How he treated Vivian was reprehensible

Whereas Edward probably should have consulted Stucky before making the announcement --- The fact is Stucky did in fact work for him, and he does not answerer to Stucky, Rather the opposite is true

There comes a time in most folks life, especially with their work where you take a good look behind you and say "I built That" --- Fo me it happened when I was 25 and moved to TX picked up a Hammer for the 1st time in my like and loved it, especially at the end of the day when You could look behind you and see what you'd done. 15 years later I made Construction Superintendent building Industrial, Commercial, and Schools of all kinds There is NOTHING like standing at the top of a 10 story building you built, with a CO in hand ---- Edward finally get to feel that when he builds his 1st ship
