I like the film, but I think it would have been a little stronger if Burton had directed it. I read on Clive Barker's website that when he screened the film everybody liked it, including Burton.
Nightbreed certainly seems like the right kind of material for Burton, I mean what's with the story being about outcasts of society...
Inevitably, Johnny Depp would be Boone, Helena Bonham Carter would be one of the Nightbreed, weird unecessary comedic beats, lame emo tone to it all leading to more t-shirt options at Hot Topic... etc. etc.

if i could punch you in the face i would, burton has ruined many a great story, burton does not understand dark and evil things he bases his work on modern gothic
Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results
Nightbreed was 1989/1990, when Tim Burton was good. >>> Even when Burton was good, he still is no match for this material. Del Toro would be the only film maker who comes to mind that could have done a good job, though not to say that Clive Barker did a bad job. Burton is too fanciful and just can't get horror down pat, not in my opinion. Sleepy Hollow is his best horror film, and it is still too quirky in all the wrong ways for Nightbreed.

Brownish leaving another $hitstain on the forum, thus successfully living up to his user name. Burton is far from a genius and half the director he used to be. The only one losing credibility is the ones who claim Burton to be a genius. If he were, he'd at least be able to tell when a story is good...something he admits to not having a clue about. The man is all style and no substance and has reduced himself to regurgitating the same old thing over and over again. Deal with it, $hitstain. Nightbreed made by Burton would be all quirky weirdness with lots of mascara and not very much story...nothing at all like Clive Barker. Now get off of Tim Burton's computer and go back to his bedroom where you belong.
