Poor Piggy!

I just watched this and what they did to Piggy was awful. I was nearly crying when he died and when they broke his glasses.

Method boy, what are you, 7???

Haha this movie was horrible. Great book but they destroyed it with this. How u can say that piggys death is anything but comical is a mystery. I wasnt attached to any of the characters and piggys death wasnt that significant anymore cause he became a whiney annoying kid instead of a intellectual source. Anyway, with the horrible special effects, this movie was terrible. The rock was styrofoam and bounced off of his head and the "noooo" it just didnt do it for me. And though I usually dont mind cursin, that also really ruined this movie for me.

I agree with you. I think there was too musch swearing and no talking pig head ruined it for me. The 1963 version is probably better, I have yet to see it but I heard it was better

I think the newer version had good music though

Simon's death should be the most powerful of them all, because he was really the first who realized what was happening. He saw things no one was seeing, even before they happened.

I saw this movie when I was a kid, and Piggy's murder was a huge shock for me.

Yeah, i remember when i first watched it, i was really shocked,

That's not what happened in the book. Piggy got shoved of the cliff lands on a rock pile, the conch smashes into a hundred pieces, the Waves engulf piggy's body and he disappears into the ocean.

I remember reading this book in the 5th grade during one of those Standardized tests where you're not allowed to do anything but read if you get done early. I was reading about Piggy's death, and nearly vomited everywhere. I returned the book to the library the very next day. I think that maybe I should pick it up and read it again. To my recallection, Piggy in the book wasn't annoying at all. Actually I remember growing quite fond of him. I guess that's why his death was such a shock. But yeah, the movie Piggy was slightly annoying. But that doesn't make his death justified in any way at all . . .

Personally, I found the death of Simon more depressing... Piggy still had it tough though. If many boys of that age-group were stranded on an island in real life, it's sad to think that is how the misfits would probably be treated. I wonder how the whole outcome of the book/movie would turn out if Simon and Piggy had survived.

I'd be happier that's for sure! Sure...the innocent ones die!

I'm glad they still make kids read this book (or watch the film as it were)

I just finished re-reading the book, and I must say.....it's still as heart-wrenching as it was when I read it a decade ago......

Piggy's death was the last vestige of civilization, and the final moral lesson....

of course it was all bound to lead to that.....but the irony in Jack living is reflected in ALL of the children, not just Jack.....Jack allowed for two deaths, but the first, accidental death (the boy with the birthmark), was forgotten, and forbidden to be mentioned by ALL the children........

so, Jack forgetting Piggy, in comparison is no sin exclusive to him.......

I feel stupid, we're reading the book in school (haven't finnsihed it yet), so I decided to look at the movie thing. and guess what i read....PIGGY DIES???
Well I knew someone was going to die, because on a quiz, my teacher asked "who is the first boy to die?" and i thouhgt, "you mean...ANOTHER KID DIES???"
