If you could rename LOTF..

what would you name it?
i sort of thought "The Savages" was cool, but then it didn't seem right for this novel..

what would you call it?

reply

Possibly...The Children

It's funny, even though "Lord Of The Flies" is a strange name and doesn't really have anything to do with the novel or the movie...it still suits it.

I'm your age...only younger.

The title cant be changed! The Lord Of The Flies is the head of the sow which is the beast which represents Satan which shows the lose of innocence which is the key theme of the book!

has no one read the book! its pretty clear espcially the end when Ralp crys when he realises that he has lost all his innocence and nothing will be the same again.

ACtually, it has a lot to do with the theme of the novel.

The title of the novel is a translation of a Hebrew word, “baal-zevuv,” which means chief or principal devil–Satan. In Greek, the word is “Beelzeboub.” An English word derived from the Greek word is “Beelzebub,” which can mean any of the following: Satan, chief devil, an assistant devil second only to Satan, or fallen angel. In the novel, the decapitated head of a pig is referred to in Chapter 8 (“Gift for the Darkness”) as the "Lord of the Flies" after Jack and his boys impale it on a stake driven into the ground. When the head begins to decompose, it attracts many flies. However, the head is only a symbol of the devil, or evil. Simon learns while staring at it that the real evil on the island lies inside the souls of the boys. It is interesting to note that the boys call their leader “chief,” which could be interpreted as a shortened version of the meaning of Beelzebub, or chief devil.

if I could rename Lord of The Flies, I would call it... "Lord of The Flies", its just right somehow, and as ^ said, it is key to the theme of the book, maybe not to this film, but definitely the book, and the first (1963) film.

You are completely unique... just like the 6 Billion other humans (I hope you're happy)

If I were to rename this movie I'd call it "Lord of the Crap", because I LOVED the book, and I thought the black and white one was OKAY, but regardless of it's unfaithfulness to the book, this is one of the worst films I've ever seen.

"Man´s true nature"

Boy Castaway?

Lord of the Flies didnt really fit the movie because it isnt even mentioned in it. You have to read the novel to find out what it is.

"The Lord of the the Flies" is an excellent name for this movie, and for the book. It's taken from the Hebrew word Beelzebub, which is another name for Satan. It literally means "Lord of the Fly" in Hebrew.

It's perfect. Kind of like "Catcher in the Rye". They're obscure names but both are befitting for very dark, and obscure reasons. :D

"Nightmare Island."

It seems evil, which is exactly what Jack and Roger are.

reply

I would call it "Drew Carey's worst nightmare."

reply

I would call it "Ooooh, You Naughty Boys! You Killed Piggy! It's Spanky Time!"
