Anybody in there? ANYBODY HOME?

Scariest part of the movie, easily. Who was expecting that?

reply

It's genius. Love how it builds with Jezzie getting increasingly annoyed as we see strange shots of her face distorted by a broken mirror, while keeping a very domestic feel until... 'ANYBODY HOME!?'

Those big, black eyes come out of nowhere.

The film keeps you on your toes because the demonic moments are always surprising and very brief. You think it's all over then... 'dream on'.

reply

Yup. Got an actual physical reaction from me.

reply

Actually "DREAM ON" is the worst part. I'd forgotten about that in the 22 years since I'd seen it last. That's the moment the movie just disintegrates into 100% bonkers.

reply

Yeah DREAM ON-who the hell would be watching his mental script(dream) and disapproving of it so harshly to do that?

reply

I remember wanting to see that scene again online somewhere, but there weren't any clips available (still aren't) so I had to settle for GIFs....and they STILL made me uncomfortable haha.

reply

Forgot about it until I read your title. Totally freaked me out the first time and still gives me the eeebs even now.

Please, go...Stop smiling, it's not a joke. Please leave...The party's over. Get out.

reply

Notice how the black eyes signifying a demon was copied by Supernatural.

reply

Also used in The Stand (1994). Randall Flagg often appeares with black eyes. Such a simple and creepy effect. I guess a lot of animals have black eyes so it instantly evokes a ‘beast’.

reply

Even though I've seen it a number of times, it is still extremely disturbing.

The party scene where he sees everyone displaying demonic features is still very scary.
