Why didn't Pennywise kill Eddie in the shower?
I mean, Pennywise has cornered the boy who is wet, cold and naked except for a towel, and could easily tear him apart or drag him down into the hole he came up from, just like that. I don't think this scene happened in the book (it was the Leper under the porch of the house on Neibolt Street) and I thought the whole point of Pennywise's enjoyment was to salt the meat by inducing fear in his child victims and then eating them.
But he let Eddie get away! Come to think of it, how? The only way he could've done it was to go back down the hole, but they didn't show that as it would've raised too many questions, so they didn't show it. But it still looks stupid and I'm surprised people didn't ask questions about it then.
This is what comes of having a scene changed from the book. King knew how to put Pennywise's victims in situations they could easily escape from, even if scared half out of their minds, until it came time for Pennywise to feed on them, then they were incapacitated and eaten and/or dragged to the larder. But they really messed up this encounter with Eddie in the miniseries.
I mean, look at the other encounters:
Bill gets scared by Georgie's photo album picture winking at him and the album leaking blood after the funeral, but Pennywise is not even there in person.
Beverly is intimidated by the splattering blood in the sink. Pennywise not there in person.
Ben is terrified by a ghost of his dead father and a submerged skeleton rising from a swamp, lunging at him, but he gets away.
Richie is grabbed by the teenage werewolf from a movie but gets away.
Mike is shocked by the photo in his Derry history album coming to life, Pennywise intimidating them and his hand lunging out, but he and they are OK but scared after slamming the album shut.
Stanley is the next closest to being killed after Eddie, but his friends save him.
So the rest of the losers basically got away, but Eddie should've died in the shower.
