32 years old now

The equivalent of watching a 1958 movie in 1990.

reply

The passage of time is brutal.

Your post is also correct. It's surreal when you realize that 2002 is now 20 years ago, yeah that's kinda old but 20 years before that was 1982 which seems so much further away from 2002 than 2002 does to the present.

1958 films were old as shit in 1990. Now-a-days we have youngsters who think The Lord of the Rings trilogy is old school and dated. Brutal.

I remember reading about someone's kid thinking The Ring (2002) was some ancient flick because it has VHS's in it. An completely alien concept to the child who has grew up in the digital era.

A lot of CGI movies are ageing terribly due to video game graphics being better.

reply

THAT'S HALF TRUE.

reply

Which half?

reply

Actually, watching some older movies as of late and I've noticed their CGI has aged pretty well, along with looking even better than some modern CGI.

So true. And why is it like that? I guess it depends on which generation you belong to.

Alot changed from 1982-2002 in the world of celluloid not much has changed from 2002 to 2022.

People changed alot from 1982-2002 as well where as 1982 you had real men like say Hugo Stiglitz or Tom Atkins in 2002 you had quirky douches like Simon Pegg and 20 years later its still all quirky douche.

Society doesn't change anymore the tech only goes up in slight increments unnoticibale to the untrained where we can watch Seinfeld and swear its modern whereas it would be like watching I Dream of Jeannie in the late 90's.

I just got a PS5 a few months ago and apparently its better graphics but i can't tell the difference at all besides faster load times and worse menus.

You mean it will be 32 years old this fall. It doesn't bother me Home Alone is that old now.

reply

🙄

Filming ended on Jun 1 so it's 32 years old.

reply

Okay If you want to be that specific.

reply

Only a child or some fool with the attention span of a gnat would judge a movie by how many years ago it was filmed.

Yeah, in 1990 I watched 30+ year old movies like "Rebel Without a Cause" and "Forbidden Planet" and loved them. So?

reply

I watched "Home Alone" on TV yesterday (first time in awhile). I still got misty-eyed at the ending...Roberts Blossom was perfectly cast and his chemistry with Macaulay Culkin was magical.

This is another movie that I wish I'd seen in the theater when it first came out, but never did (I was about the only one who didn't, it seemed...what a phenomenon this movie was). I was a Senior in college when this came out...hard to believe it's been 32 years now.

reply

I'm surprised the ratings are going up as it's getting older. That's nice
