Did this movie really inspire Tarantino's "Kill Bill" flicks?

Especially with its coma and then revenge upon multiple enemies plotline? So Tarantino must have then seen and possibly even enjoyed this early much maligned Seagal flick then? Interesting.

To be fair, Hard to Kill was a box office success and is generally considered one of Seagal's better films. I'm sure it had plenty of unironic fans at the time, although within a decade Seagal's reputation went from promising action star to punchline.

It may be maligned somewhat now, as much of the story is frankly absurd, but at the time it was made it was considered a pretty credible and groundbreaking action film. I remember even watching it at first in the early 90's as a kid when it was on TV (heavily edited), and even then being fully riveted by it. Seagal hadn't accrued the public baggage that he has now and generally his films were of a fairly consistent and decent quality.

Today I think it's the least of his first 5 films, but it's still way better than most anything he did afterward. Even its bad points are at least amusing to some degree. At least it isn't low-effort and dull like his DTV movies.

QT never referenced Hard to Kill as any inspiration. Similar storyline is just random despite TQ borrowing heavy from other films in his productions.
