Bill Cosby never made an epic movie, and he didn't need to. Anyone who says this film is when his career started going downhill isn't very versed in what it means to achieve a legendary career. The Cosby Show was Cosby's SWAN SONG ... and it is only one of the most celebrated and important television shows of all time. Even if that show never existed, Cosby's career would have been one of the greatest in entertainment history. Most modern audiences can't appreciate this because it was mainly a recording career based on epic stand-up comedy albums. But, still, many fans from the era (and beyond) consider Cosby THE greatest stand-up comedian of all time.
Regarding Ghost Dad ... it wasn't made for a mainstream audience. It is a quirky, fun little movie that demands the audience suspend disbelief to a great degree. In layman's terms, it's a silly movie. So what? Cosby's star-power still shines through, and he made some people laugh their proverbial AO with this film. I, for one, celebrate it. If you believe this makes me dumb, then go ahead and count me with the morons ... just so long as it keeps me far, far away from you.
Anyhow, I loved it, and completely agree ... this WAS a good movie!
