Does anyone else here remember this was going to be the biggest movie ever?
shareThe film made nearly 4X its budget. I don't know how you would call it a disaster. As far as your question, I don't recall anyone thinking it would be the biggest movie ever.
shareGranted I was only 8 at the time and can't answer to the hype but from what I gather, Disney wanted it to be Batman and it wasn't but I frankly don't see how it was ever going to be. Still, really wonderful movie with great production values, even better cast, and I felt the script understood the characters and what the comic strip was really all about. I wish Disney would show a lot more pride in than they do.
