Who was this originally written for?

If you listen to the director's commentary, the script "The Adventures of Ford Fairlane" was written originally without Dice. When the studio decided to turn it into a Dice movie, it was re-written to add in Dice's personality.

Does anyone know who the movie was originally intended for?

Brandon B. Brandon.. A demented puppet who lives in a basement. It would have worked..

I think once Harlin had his own (then profitable) agenda to bring to the movie..This (once greenlit) was always intended to be a 'Dice' movie?

It was a (slightly earlier) Hudson Hawk (but no less great) regardless of box-office takings.

It's one of Harlin's best lensed movies (IMO) I think everyone was at their peak here?
