Most unbelievable part of the movie

The father, who has never played video games before, is playing the original TMNT for the NES in a motel room.

He tells his son that he has gotten to level 4 or 5.

Keep in mind that this man has never played any video games before, let alone TMNT for NES. Yet, we are to believe that he has progressed that far in that game in one sitting on his very first try. 🤣

reply

IRL, he'd still be trying to make the "jump" in level 3.

reply

Or trying to make the jump in level 2.

Or trying to disarm the bombs.

Or trying to find anything in level 3.

That game is a nightmare!

reply

The father says "It doesn't take much intelligence to play that thing does it?" Then he plays it and at level 3. That's believable.

reply

NES games were notorious for being unforgiving and the original TMNT was right up there with Ninja Gaiden and godamned BattleToads in terms of difficulty. My ass he was on level 5 like it was nothing.

reply

It’s true

reply

On Ninja Gaiden I could get all the way to Jaquio and then failed repeatedly to beat him. I've tried yet again a few times as an adult and same result.

I'd say it was impossible except that once I saw a friend do it.

reply

I agree 😂😂, it was so frustrating and if I remember right you couldn't save your progress so when you died it was 5 hours progress gone, then youd start again, good times to be 9 again.

reply

Yeah, the whole game was basically one big suck.

reply

Need a fucking Game Genie.

reply

Maybe being gifted at video games ran in the family, but only one of his three sons got that gift.

reply

That's an interesting theory I've never considered.
