What exactly happened to the dog?

I'm just wondering, did I blink my eye on a wrong scene and perhaps missed a line that explained what the hell happened to the dog? As far as I saw it, mouth-to-mouth resuscitation didn't quite work on the little fellow - looked to me Zach had one irreversibly dead canine in his hands. How come the animal was later on miraculously resurrected without any explanation?

It was just a comical, if not very believable, solution to a farcical scene.

It wasn't dead. Hell, they even used a real dog in the scene(you see it move when he puts it in the suitcase.).

I was convinced the dog had passed away too but when it reappears at the wedding scene it really adds to the overall moment of shock and surprise for Zack. Just a bit of fun done well I think.
