Sea Of Love VS Basic Instinct
Which did u like better
shareI myself like Sea of Love better.
I like the cast, the story and the overall "feel and look" of the film better.
But then... I'm not that big of a fan of Michael Douglas OR Sharon Stone...
Al Pacino is always Great.
Ellen Barkin and John Goodman are great in this movie too...
It's a movie I have watched...and enjoyed... more than once...but I have No desire to ever see Basic Instinct again...so...
I pick Sea of Love :)
Sea of Love !!!
Sea of Love by a country mile !
Good story ! Some Great dialogue ! Twists ! Pacino , Barkin & Goodman at the top of their form ! Great Soundtrack !
versus a boring Michael Douglas and Sharon Stone's leg cross !
I prefer Sea of Love, too.I also think BS was pretty good and it's sequel ruined the popularity of it for many people.
shareSea of Love.
Basic Instinct is good, but its a little over the top. Sharon Stone has always struck me as being a little corny or phony I guess. Ellen Barkin is more natural and realistic.
The common thing bewteen the two is the plot. But Sea of Love wins of course.
Sea of love is a movie where artists were working..I could not see real artists at Basic Instinct. Michael Douglas is a good looking actor who is there to collect money from cinema goers. No way to be compared to The Legend.
The problem with Basic Instinct is that the style Paul Verhoeven made it in makes it look terribly dated today. Sea of Love is done in a more classic noir-style and as a result has aged far better. When I watch Basic Instinct today I laugh and get embarrassed, so many of the scenes that were considered risky and daring 20 years ago just comes off as laughable (like the once so infamous interrogation-scene with Sharon Stone and Newman...eh I mean Wayne Knight).
shareUnlike Basic Instinct, this one at least has an inkling of intelligence and class.

Sea Of Love
shareBasic Instinct is a absolute masterpiece and 'Sea of Love' is an ok movie, nothing more. There are no such a great dialogues and suspense in SoL like in BI and when it comes to acting Michael Douglas/George Dzundza/Sharon Stone are way better than Pacino/Barkin/Goodman. While watching BS I always cared about Michael Douglas character, there was something cool about him, something that Pacino never had. His acting is superior, even though I never really liked Douglas. He is just a great actor, not a favorite.
Some people here are so laughable 'Douglas is a huge star needed to bring the audience'....Yeah, like Pacino isn't a huge star and his name never brings the audience.
"There are no such a great dialogues and suspense in SOL like in BI".
LOL. Like Jeanne Tripplehorn bizarrely screaming: "SHE IS EEE-VIL!SHE IS BRILLLLIANT!!!" Has Joe Esterhaz, BI`s screenwriter, ever written a line that don`t sound fake? Or created a character that actually comes across as a real human being? Don`t answer...

I like them both, but I feel sometimes watching BS it is abit overdone. I always get the feeling in BS that Sharon Stone is attacking Micheal Douglas not having sex with him. But I suppose that is what u are suppose to think. I think Sea of Love is a bit more to use a term romantic, when BS is more about raw lust. The ending is somewhat different to, in Sea of Love once u have seen it it takes the edge of. With BS, I was never sure who the hell the killer was. I saw a show one time said, Sharon Stone was the killer, but I was always left with the idea it could have been either girl. Once again, I suppose that is what u are suppose to think. But I like them both, but if push for a answer probalary Sea Of Love, I just never care for Sharon Stone, she alway reminder me of Madoona abit overdone.
