Cut to scene with him pulling out a box of fireworks from the attic.
Always thought an idea like that would have worked great as an animated tv special. Which is where I would have steered the franchise after the success of this movie. Do all the holidays as new cartoon specials to air alongside the Peanuts and such. They could still be cranking them out today.

I think the problem is that Chase wouldn't be able to channel the lovability that Clark had. As Chase got older, he became more of a jerk than he was when he was younger. At least when he was young, he could act somewhat lovable.
I don't think he could have pulled off another Vacation movie even with a good script.
National Lampoon already did all the pool jokes in Caddy Shack and Summer Vacation.
