Did anyone get tired of the slapstick humor?
I mean you can only show Clark destroying his house so many times and have it be funny. The last act of this film was just bad, like cringeworthy bad.

shareWhen you watch a Western, do you get tired of the horses?
shareWatch the original, it wasn’t based in slapstick. The comedy was about the interactions between the characters which is a lot funnier and more intelligent, Christmas Vacation appealed to the lowest common denominator
Also it’s beyond dishonest of you to frame it that way. A movie can be funny without having slapstick, Westerns pretty much need to have horses.
Also I don’t like westerns. I don’t mind comedies as long as they are funny, Christmas Vacation was not. Dr Strangelove is a good example of an actual funny movie.
There are ways to be funny without being childish, the original Vacation was funny but not childish, Christmas Vacation was childish but not funny.
I got tired of the attic face bashing.
shareThere were a lot of physical gags--some of them worked, some not, and most of them went on too long. They could have used somebody like Buster Keaton as an advisor, to tune them and tighten them up. Unfortunately, he died in 1966.
shareSlapstick humor can be hit or miss, but I liked it in this film.
shareNO
shareChristmas Vacation is a funny holiday movie but it isn't my favorite Vacation movie. European Vacation is the funniest of the lot.
shareThere is nothing humorous about slapstick. Nothing.
