How Could Joe Clark Expel 300 Students?

Even though it was the 1980s, they had school attendance laws back then. You had to be in school until you were 17. How could Joe Clark put the students who were 17 or under out of Eastside High legally? They had to be educated. Sams had to be about 14 or 15. He was to young to be put out of high school! That is probably why Joe Clark had no choice but to let him back in.

The principal would have had to go through proper channels to get them expelled. Given their behavior history I'm sure he could have gotten many of them out (and the ones not 18 in an alternate behavior school) but in today's day and age the principal can't just decide one day he's going to expel someone.

Those kids were criminals who were a serious threat to students and staff. Drugs and weapons don't belong on campus and deprives everyone the chances of learning and doing their jobs in a safe enviornment. One teacher in the beginning was seriously injured and one girl was harassed by having her clothing stripped away.

Plus, Joe mentioned that some of them have been there 5 years. Meaning they're 18 or 19, meaning theyre no longer required to be there.

Geez, that’s a real 180 for you. I would have thought that you would see those expelled kids as victims and Mr. Clark the oppressor. Or does education get a special exemption from the rules from you?

In real life, the "students" Joe Clark expelled were troublemakers in their late teens and early twenties!!!

If he did, in real life I mean, I'm sure he had a good reason. I can remember Clark from the 80s. I read about him. He was a stern disciplinarian. He actually did walk around with a bullhorn. If I remember correctly, he was a Drill Sgt. in the Army or Marines, although don't quote me on that. Ultimately though, the guy was about education. He sincerely cared about educating the youth. He was a hero. If he did, in fact, get rid of 300 students, he must have found them incorrigible.
