I actually think this is the best of the house series after the first one.But having a very similar storyline to Wes Craven's Shocker which is better?I don't know I like them both but I think Brion James is a great actor. What do you think Id be interested to know
This....Shocker was one of those trendy 80's movies that didn't do alot for me and is easily forgotten.(Even though Alice Cooper guitarist at the time Kane Roberts was in it)
This movie was named House 3 as the first 2 were very successful overseas from the US domestic market. The producers used the title to get more ticket sales
Shocker...shocker's humour kept me watching as something a little more different than the average slasher, and Mitch Pilligi was a better villain than Brion James (who I usually love).
I have been asking this question for years. Before I answer it though, The Horror Show is completely unrelated to the House franchise. To say this is better then House is like saying Night of the Living Dead is better then Poltergeist. They are completely different movies and hard to compare. Anyway, back to the question. I think I liked Shocker a little bit more because Horace Pinker was such a goofy serial killer. Not to say that killing families is goofy but his character was hard to take seriously. Max Jenke from The Horror Show was a vicious serial killer who had the pure essence of evil on his side. What killed me with The Horror Show was that I didn't like the ending at all. WARNING SPOILERS! At the end of The Horror Show they destroy Jenke once and for. After that, Henrickson's family is magically back to life. I think it would have been better if they stayed dead. It would have had a more emotional impact. At least with Shocker, dead was dead. One more note, Jenke had a better Electric Chair scene then Pinker.
I preferred The Horror Show to Craven's outing, it just felt edgier, plus it didn't have to live up to the expectations that Shocker had to--and didn't. Mitch Peleggi was great, but you just can't beat Brion James for an in-your-face jerk of a villain.
i wish you american fans would get over the fact that this is a house film! house 3 took place inside lucass house which the spirit of max entered, ITS HOUSE 3.!!! end of...
Well, it was released here, in the theaters as The Horror Show. That is what I know it as and that is what I will call it. Really though, there are so many movies with so many different names who cares what people call it. Look at Tombs of the Blind Dead. That movie has more names then the Devil. Really, it's not worth getting up in arms over.
Horror Show. Both were good, but I really like Lance Henriksen in most everything he's in. He's the villian in so much of his recent stuff that it's nice to go back and see that he got to play heroes occasionally.
And Brion James is the perfect d*ck. No offense to Mitch, who was also good.
Shocker was more enjoyable for me. I'm a Craven fan, so this may be a biased opinion. Shocker had some good doses of humor. For The Horror Show, I couldn't even sit through the whole film.
