Apparently a reboot is in the works.

The Telegraph film site mentions something about a possible reboot.

It won't be a sequel due to Rick Moranis having retired, so it'll be a reboot.

Hollywood is rebooting and remaking tons of 80s and 90s movies for the new generation. The majority don't appreciate 90s and 80s films and there has been a lot of fantastic motion pictures of those eras.

NNNOOOO!

The upcoming Jumanji remake is bad enough.

All hail the underdogs
All hail the new kids
All hail the outlaws
Spielbergs and Kubricks

I'm actually surprised it hasn't been attempted yet, and I hope it won't be. The original was just too good, and I think this is one that needs to be left alone, like "The Goonies."

reply

It needs to be left alone! Silly people...same with the Goonies. Not very excited about that one.

reply

Oh god, when a movie is already perfection why mess with it?

Reboots probably gonna suck, seems like it's only being made for the $$$$$$ *sigh*

reply

I do find it surprising that Disney has not attempted this yet, especially since they had attractions running at the theme parks for so many years. You'd think they'd want to capitalize on that. I wonder if there is a reason no remake has happened other than the fact that they just haven't gotten around to it. Whatever the reason it should definitely be left alone.

reply

But, but, but today's CGI will totally improve it.

* yes this is sarcasm

reply

Lol! I'm telling you that's another reason why I'm surprised it hasn't been remade. I better quit with it, because I don't want to jinks anything. 😕

reply

I hope not.

I'd just trust to the younger generation's appreciation of older works and such. Audeinces for 1940s anf 50s films of the original generation would post a bigger problem (since 1970 at least many shows of that time or older have been considered poison due to older demographics...) even the original, since later younger ones do appreicate theses, audeince is still way under 65.

70s films being rebooted..? :)

reply

Please don't, this movie is just fine as it is.

reply

And many of the reboots suck. This one will probably be no different. There's a reason you shouldn't mess with success when it happens the first time around.

Josh Gad will play the now adult son of Rick Moranis' character. Apparently Moranis will return too and Joe Johnston will return as a director. I loved this one as a kid but I haven't seen it in over two decades.
