Could Michael J. Fox have done anything to really stop it?

What if he were to shoot at either of the men during the act or point the gun at them and start threatening them to back down, did they really have him painted into a corner during the doing of the terrible deed?

Was there nothing at this stage he could do?

A gunfight would have been a bad idea since it would be 4 vs 1. If he managed to kill them all by some miracle, it would be really hard to explain what happened to his superiors later.

It's really beside the point. The main question is, why are American GIs behaving this way, and allowed to get away with it (almost)?

Rape during war is not unusual.

Unfortunately that is true . . but the question remains . . . why are American GIs behaving this was why are they allowed to get away with it?
