What they show Virgil

When Virgil asks the aliens why they were planning to destroy the Earth, they show him footage of bomb dropping among other atrocities committed by the human race.

Usually, when movies use footage from something else within the movie it's listed in the conncetion section under "features," but I didn't see anything. Was that footage created especially for this movie?

Ultimately I think that's where this movie loses me. that final scene or two just is not supported by the rest of the film.

they're very cheesy with the happy ending for everybody, too, for killer aliens.

Don't get me wrong, I loved most of the movie, too.
