What were the prime seasons of the show?
I'd say Seasons 1-8. Peak prime probably Season 4 or 5.

shareI wouldn’t include seasons 1 & 2 in “prime.” They weren’t bad. But the show wasn’t top-level yet.
I think season 3-8 would be prime. The peak season might be the two seasons with the episodes around “who shot burns”
Yeah you're right about season 1, but season 2? Season 2 has so many great episodes like Three Men and a Comic Book, the episode with Homer's brother, the one where Homer uses the miracle hair growth tonic. So many great episodes.
shareSeason 2 is better than 1 but still not good enough to be prime imo. I would say 3-7 is absolute prime for consistency. 8 and 9 are still very watchable but some mediocrity creeps in even though there are some excellent episodes sprinkled throughout. FTR, I think Season 6 is the very best season.
shareSeasons 3-8 were the golden seasons and seasons 1-10 were the good seasons, my overall favorite season is Season 4.

My personal opinion (from someone who started watching the Tracy Ulman shorts) would be seasons 3-8, but when coming across The Simpsons on TV, anything from 1-15 is excellent entertainment. I won't watch anything after 15.
Seasons 1-7 I thought were, and still are, some of the best comedy and satire I have ever seen in ANY television show. I still watch those old episodes and laugh hysterically. It was brilliant!
Very sad where the show is now. Caving to woke race mobs.
people say it was the Sinner fraud episode was the downfall.
But I think it was the Poochy one the episode itself was a satire about itself losing ratings. after that episode we started to see some not so great episodes and the quality started to drop , and they ran out of ideas of sideshow bob etc
