Is Mr. Bean autistic?

If so, then I guess shame on us for laughing at him.

reply

Perhaps, but there is also a theory that he is an alien trying to fit into society.

Not 'alien', 'extra-Terrestrial'.

It's not a theory, either - he's clearly SHOWN in the TV show's intro to be DROPPED FROM THE SKY IN A LIGHT BEAM onto this planet, then wandering around in an inhuman walking motion.

The makers of the show have also revealed in an interview their vision of how the show should end / have ended; they told about a spaceship landing, a door opening, and all these 'Mr. Beans' coming wandering out and Mr. Bean finally returning to his own kind, and leaving this planet with them (or something like that, I might remember some details wrong, but it was definitely something like that)

I agree with the other users that he's supposed to be an alien but I do think he is autism coded. Autistic people often feel like aliens though I don't think this connection was intentional.

It's kind of interesting to see how many autistic, or autistic coded, people and characters in modern society are seen as something to laugh at. I wonder if this will be considered a form of ableism in the future, especially if realistic portrayals of autistic characters become more commonplace and autisic actors are more accepted.
