Basil Poledouris' music is still my favorite wild-frontier soundtrack
This movie has it all. It's swimming with AAA actors and some of the most stirring music I've ever heard from any film.

shareI came to this board to post the same thing. Basil Poledouris' score is amazing. Night Mares, Captain Call's Journey, and especially Farewell Ladies are some of my all-time favorite pieces of music. Poledouris was probably the most underrated composer of his generation. I also loved his score for Robocop, Starship Troopers, Quigley Down Under, and The Twilight Zone episode A Message from Charity.
For another fantastic frontier score, you should check out Max Richter's score for Hostiles. The piece Never Goodbye is the most soul-piercing music I've heard in years.
Everything came together here, the music, the setting, the actors.
Oh wow, I didn't know he did this. I haven't watched this since I was a kid but always remembered the soundtrack.
