RIP Jerry VanDyke.....

Having just binged on this show last week, I was saddened to hear of Jerry VanDyke's passing.
I really enjoyed Luther.

I also just started watching Coach on youtube. I forgot how funny it was! Luther was so hilarious, I started to wonder how Jerry van Dyke was doing. A few weeks later he was gone.

He left us a legacy of laughter. Such a funny man. Often in the shadow of his older brother, but just as talented.

He really was a funny man.....
He could also play a mean banjo! lol!

Oh his banjo playing when he appeared as Stacey Petrie on The Dick van Dyke Show! LOLOL

Remember the two part episode when he couldn't sing or play while awake? But when he was sleepwalking he was hilarious, he could sing and play and he called everyone "Berferd"!!

I have a book about the show and Dick van Dyke said the sleepwalking story was based on a true story about his brother. He used to sleepwalk and they would find him in the strangest places in the middle of the night in his pajamas.

He played it on Coach a few times too.
I loved that two part episode on the Dick Van dyke Show. The sleepwalking one is my favorite. I like that one better than his other appearance, when he wanted to get married.... something to do with the name, James Garner....?
Somehow, I'm not a bit surprised that Jerry had been a sleepwalker. No reason in particular.

Oh yeah "James Garner", not the actor, he was a guy who was Stacey's army buddy. Jim was corresponding with a woman he had met, but Stacey wrote the actual letters. He started to like the woman but kept signing Jim's name. And then he proposed to her in a letter.

The woman, Julie, thought she was getting letters and a proposal from Jim. When Stacey visited her and told her the truth, she was furious. But at the end of the episode, she wanted to give him another chance. I always thought it would have made another good two parter to follow up on their relationship. Did they get married or not? But after that, the show forgot all about Rob's brother.
