Biggest Brady EEEEEEEWWW moment of all time?

On Christmas morning Carol helps Jan and Phillip reconcile their tattered marriage in the lovably hokey Brady-simple way. And then it comes. Florence Henderson, with a hint of a dirty smile, says in a thickly lascivious voice

"You can be late for breakfast"

In other words, Jan, your mother Carol Brady just said "you have time for a quickie"

EEEEEEWWWWWW!!!!

I always feel dirty after that scene...

reply

I always thought that was weird too! And then Jan's husband starts to remove her little silk robe after Carol leaves the room....Blech!!

reply

At least he didn't start undressing her until AFTER Carol left.

You smell like beef and cheese, you don't smell like Santa.

reply

What parent just walks on in on a married couple in the first place.

reply

Yes! and she just stood there as they talked-that was your first cue to leave, Carol!

I'll give him 20 more minutes-and that's it!- Airplane!

reply

Well, they have that kind of relationship where they can say stuff like that to each other. I would love to have that kind of relationship with my mother about sex. If your own mother/ father can't joke with you about sex, then you shouldn't be joking about it, period.

Don't hate. Appreciate.

reply

The Brady Bunch was always the perfect family, could always talk to each other about anything and of course always solved all of their problems in 30 minutes. The previous poster echos the thoughts of many that they wish they had that kind of relationship with their family in real life. To change the Brady formula for one of these 2 hour reunion shows would have seemed more out of place than to simply get through a couple of these awkward moments, like Carol walking in on Jan & Phil and giving them permission to get it on while the rest of the Brady clan reminisced about their trip to Hawaii or something over breakfast. The writers encountered this problem when they introduced Jan & Phil's marital problems in the first place. Solving the marital problems in a Brady way was of course not going to be very realistic so they did a fairly decent job getting that plot point out of the way and moving on quickly without being completely over the top.

gross!

How old are you? Five?

"Hate the sin, love the sinner."

reply

Holy crap, you're right. I had NEVER thought of that before. Yuck, that's disgusting, I'd wanna say "Get that hell outta here MOM!"

reply

You people obviously never watched The Brady Brides in 1981. It was FULL of sexual inuendoes! Besides that Wally slept naked.

A Very Brady Christmas came 7 years later and Carol saying they could be late for breakfast is just natural. When people fight they reconcile. That is part of life. Besides, how many times did we see Carol and Mike JUST before they had sex during the original run of the Brady Bunch? MANY!

"I'd rather believe what I believe and be wrong than believe what you believe and be wrong."

reply

Grow up.

reply

TheJoshma,

You should not just write "grow up" without saying to WHOM IS IT SAID! I have no idea if you're saying this to me, to the person who wrote before me, the person who wrote the original post or to everyone who wrote.

So who was it?

"I'd rather believe what I believe and be wrong than believe what you believe and be wrong."

reply

Well I appreciate that you value my opinion even if you typed my name incorrectly. I assumed that, in this case, "grow up" really spoke for itself. It was directed at the original poster.

reply

TheJoshman,

NO, it did NOT speak for itself! If it had, I would not have posted. How is anyone suppose to assume who it was meant for? There was no hint whatsoever! Not everyone reads the original post. Some people read only the last post or the last few posts.

"I'd rather believe what I believe and be wrong than believe what you believe and be wrong."

reply

I automatically assumed that thejoshman was speaking to the original poster, and was surprised to see dfortier5's reply. It's my opinion that the comment did speak for itself.

reply

Since "mikey-285" never existed until this last comment, I'm going to presume this was really Joshman replying under another name to make it look like someone else thinks like him.

"I'd rather believe what I believe and be wrong than believe what you believe and be wrong."

reply

dfortier5:

Are you insane?

reply

The best part about this is how all these people have gone to the page for "A Very Brady Christmas" and started blowing this post up.

reply

The Joshman asked if dfortier5: is insane? Can't answer for sure but it's obvious dfortier5: has mental health issues, probably more than all the 'Brady kids' combined.

reply

Nah. I'd say that's you and Joshman, actually, for insulting someone over something so petty.

reply

It would be fine if Alice was still doing the family's laundry...

reply

That whole flick had alot of moments that werent very Brady. But that one scene really didnt fit, I mean really in the most normal of households a mom wouldnt say that not to mention the Bradys!! I know they wanted to express they were all grown up, but man!

reply

That was a rather ewww moment.

During The Brady Brides, Wally and Marsha made out in front of Carol several times, and Wally made rather lewd jokes about their relationship to Carol often. It always made Marcia look like such a nymph when her mom was around.

Another somewhat ew moment was when Jan and Phillip were bed hopping during the pilot of The Bradys, because they were trying to conceive a child. Watching Jan continually try to be arousing was just bizarre.
