Plot is 'borrowed' from The Wicker Man

If you like this film...which I do especially as a guilty pleasure for a very young and hot Kelly Preston, then be sure to check out The Wicker Man. The main plot twist of Spellbinder is taken straight from this film, whcih is far superior in almost every respect. Hard to beat a young Kelly Preston though...

Yeah, as soon as she told him that the sacrifice had to come voluntarily, I thought of Wicker Man and knew what was going to happen.

Of course, it helps if the victim is also as stupid as a brick.

Still, even with the derivative plot and the unsympathetic leading man, it was somewhat jarring for him to just be killed like that.

Now, here's my question: why did Rick what's his name come running up with guys dressed like cops? Who were they supposed to be fooling?

The cops were just late for the party.
Watched this on Comet today. I don't remember it from the 80s, and I agree with other posts that Kelly is much prettier as a brunette. I almost didn't recognize her.
Despite the obvious similarities to Wicker Man, this was well done.
Thumbs up a few decades late. ;-)

About half way through this piece of crap I realized I was watching a bastardized version of the Wicker Man.

Are there any other movies out there that have used a similar plot/ending?
