The deputy's wife refers to this passage as to how the colored should be inferior to whites,,, I've looked this verse up on several bibles and can't make that connection.

The people who wrote the old testament were people of color.

There were similar scenes in 12 Years A Slave where the plantation owner would cherry pick certain scriptures to justify the slavery and abuse . Sickening ! This is the kind of stuff that turns people off to Christianity.

Yes, this movie was one of the most accurate portraits of racial hatred I've ever seen.

The verse is basically saying "may the people of canon be your slaves". so its being misconstrued as let any groupd of people be your slaves.
