Chennard as a cenobite
I like the movie, but I thought he was unlikable compared to the other cenobites.

Well, I think they were trying to go the whole "bigger is better" route with this sequel. Of course, I don't think is all worked, as the film ended up a lot weaker for the most part. Visually impressive and more gory, but that is it. Dr. Channard didn't come close to the originality and impact of the original Cenobites. He was overkill, complete with the ridiculous tentacles. And why on Earth did he keep on sounding like he was singing opera (badly) when he'd start killing? Channard was much better as the evil Doctor in the first half of the film, BEFORE his transformation into the ridiculous monster.

I am not a fan. I just happen to enjoy movies. Fans are embarrassing.
I liked Channard as a cenobite. The only thing they should have toned down was the medical puns. Not completely get rid of them, just not have every single line being doctor talk. IMO, he's the best cenobite outside the original four. The tentacles and the voice are all weird and creepy in a good way, and his abilities are an interesting alternative to Pinhead's chains.
shareYes, I agree that the medical puns were too much. I don't really like Hellbound and Channard the Cenobits is merely one reason. Mostly, my issue has to do with the plot, which I really don't think makes good sense and certainly doesn't connect as well with the first film as it could have. But that is just my opinion. I know that Hellbound is very popular with a great many fans, and I can certainly understand the attraction to it from horror fans. Leviathan and the maze are beautifully depicted and quite original.

The question I had was how was he able to take over and kill all the other Cenobites so fast? Why did he get so much power?
shareHe wasn't that interesting anyway
shareThis is old but I just watched it again. I enjoyed more than I thought. I actually think the best quote from all these movies comes here, "Your suffering will be legendary even in hell".
Anyway, I think Kirsty showed the photo to Pinhead, which weakened his resolve. The other Cenobites also saw the photo and started to think again. They were once human. Channard was new, he had no such memories prior to the pain/pleasure so he was easily able to restore them to their earlier, human form.
"Your suffering will be legendary even in hell".
The YouTuber Lexie Lombard bears a strong resemblance to Ashley Lawerence
I still use the "Legendary, even in Hell" line/analogy (in my day-to-day descriptions of things that are merely a smidgen from the norm)
shareYou LIKED the other cenobites?
shareJust watched it , i figure he had done more evil shit in his human life therfore his cenobite form was the most fucked up. It was a bit mortal kombaty. But i really loved this movie
