I LOVE this movie. Anyone else agree?

I've seen it 4-5 times, it never gets old. Whenever I'm bored I put it on. Just wanted to see if anyone else can't seem to get enough as well.

Yes, I LOVE this film. One of my all-time favorites not released in widescreen by Warner Bros. Shame on them!! Roman Polanski's direction, Ennio Morricone's score, and the Paris locations plus that Grace Jones song- ****. Everytime I visit Paris, I see the film. Its an excellent film. I've seen it more than 100 times.

reply

Yeah, great movie, very underrated.

I saw this film when it first came out and just bought a DVD copy the other day. It still retains all of its charm, mystery, and sexiness after repeated viewings. Nice one, Mr. Polanski!

i cant stand ford in general, but his film is a 9. like u said paris, jones, lovely blonde, its amamazing

It really felt like a movie which you can watch whenever you just want to watch something, but I don't know for sure, because I saw it three days ago and haven't revisited it yet. But after that first viewing I instantly loved it, although it's not as good as the other Roman Polanski films I've seen, being Rosemary's Baby and Chinatown. Now I'm looking forward to discovering more of Roman Polanski's work, but I still have an x-number of films waiting on a first viewing...

Yeah I love this film. It's definitely in my top 5 list of Harrison Ford movies.

reply

I feel a lot of Polanski's underappreciaed movies can be watched just on a whim as well. This, The Ninth Gate and Rosemary's Baby I can put on any time and enjoy them.

reply

It's my favorite Harrison Ford film, and that's a bold statement.

reply

I've seen it- I don't know how many times- and I never miss it when it's on tv. Terribly underrated. I also adore Witness and Blade runner. Love Harrison Ford eighties movies.

reply

I agree, stza! I love it more with each viewing. I really enjoy the action, drama, and humor in the film. The roof scene is absolutely hilarious! Harrison Ford was great in this! I just love the unfortunate, yet humorous, situations his character gets into; like the roof scene, getting kicked in the face while nude and holding a teddy bear...etc. Plus the awkward dancing! Not only that, it was set in France. Fantastic!

Emmanuelle Seigner was wonderful as well!

I hadn't seen this film in years but watched it again today. It's excellent for the first two thirds or so, but I found the ending a little uninspired compared to the rest of the film.

Still a very good film though.

reply

That's a good point; I thought the ending was subpar after the first viewing. I felt it undid everything that happened throughout the movie. But I just now realized that as much as I wanted a perfect ending, the actual one is what made Frantic so special and unforgettable to me.

reply

Yes--the first half of the movie was very good--the mystery developes, the suitcase search, the visit to the cops, Harrison Ford at a loss --great, absorbing story. I thought the ending fizzled, but--still an underrated movie.

YES! I love this film. I watch it every single time it is on television. I find that there is something new that I haven't noticed every time I see this movie. I have seen it about 25-50 times. I'm not sure because I've been watching it over and over since it came out 21 years ago.

I love the location of shooting it in Paris.
I love the juxtaposition of the Eiffel Tower and the Statue of Liberty.
I love the French music in the background.
I love the hotel, the staff and the way it plays into this film.
I love the eighties feel of the film.
This is one of my favorite Harrison Ford films.
I love the characters in this film, most of whom are French.

I don't understand why this film is so underrated in the IMDB.

reply

LOL You seen this film as many times as me! I confess I watched it again On Encore yesterday! I'm positively addicted to it.

Here something I never noticed before. The scene where Ford tells the French police to take his missing wife case serious. What I didn't noticed how angry the lead detective was and how he slammed that book down. I know he gave Ford words but I just noticed that scene yesterday.

BTW, I liked the scene with the Statue Of Liberty. When I first saw this movie, I thoughT Ford somehow was shipped back to the states after his fight with that CIA or secret police guy. The one that kicked him in the face.

I watched it for the first time last night and while I can see it's not for everyone, I found it to be a pretty good film.

That scene where he's climbing on top of the apartments and slips and catches the antenna before falling over is incredible. Then he loses his shoes... seems to make the situation feel so much worse.

reply

People found that situation to be more funny than it was probably intended, minus the shoe-throwing.

I saw it again last weekend. I've seen it several times since it was new in 1988.
It was even BETTER than I remembered it! I love this thriller. It has so many wonderful details.

Why it wasn't a smash hit when it was released I don't know. I just opened and read a biography of about mr. Polanski and it said that the film was a relative success at the time, not the flop as I thought. It did good business according to the book, which is a relief to me.
I think this film is a classic thriller and that more people should know about it!

reply

I glad to see it did ok but I guess people was probably use to Harrion Ford playing Indy or Han during that time.
