For now at least. 20th Century Studio boss did an interview with The Hollywood Reported recently
Interviewer: "Any Die Hard plans?"
Studio Boss: "No, not yet."
They should do what Indiana Jones failed to do & just let the franchise rest/die.

shareDie Hard is just a title. There's plenty of bottled action thrillers. It was always the Bruce Willis show. Pointless to remake it.
It would potentially be interesting to do a remake from the villains' point of view dealing with some rogue boogeyman mucking up their plans. Ya could even make the bad guy sympathetic by having him forced to do the job against his will so every victory of John McClane is further endangering his family.
