This Is Not A Christmas Movie (Not What You Think This Thread/Topic Is)

This is not a Christmas movie. It's Christmas-Horror. Everyone keeps saying Violent Night is horror. I'm talking about the one that released in 2022 with David Harbour just in case there is more than one Violent Night movie out there. But Violent Night is pretty much a copy/paste of Die Hard but swap out John McClane/Bruce Willis for Santa. The movie (Violent Night) is action. There is nothing horror about it. So if people want to claim that Violent night is Horror/Christmas-Horror, then Die Hard is Christmas-Horror as well. It's not just Christmas. Also, when I said "copy/paste," that wasn't a bad thing. I liked Violent Night. One of my favorite movies of 2022 and a movie I'll add to the watch list every Christmas.

But I'd like to know what's so horror about Violent Night. The poster? The poster does look like it's another slasher movie with some evil Santa (for the billionth time), but Santa is actually the good guy/hero and the actual movie is an action movie. Like I said, copy/paste of Die Hard. No one considers Die Hard to be horror. But if everyone is claiming Violent Night is horror, then that makes Die Hard horror too. Christmas-Horror to be exact/more specific.

BOTH ARE ACTION FILMS...BOTH ARE CHRISTMAS FILMS.🫤

Violent Night seems to be categorized action / comedy / thriller. Die Hard is action / thriller. No horror in either one.

Every time I see the Violent Night poster trending, I think the guy in the poster is Michael C Hall (Dexter).

When I watched Violent Night last year I also felt it was a variation on the Die Hard theme. I think I even said so to the person in the seat next to me. However, just because they are both cut from the same basic cloth doesn't make them twins. Violent Night is very much a horror film. Santa is a former Viking warrior who is crushing the heads of his enemies using a mystical hammer called Skullcrusher. He vaporizes one by sending up a tiny chimney. The film also has comedic elements, but at its core it is an ultra-violent gory horror film. Die Hard is grounded in the action/siege/crime genre, and has nothing in the way of horror or gore.
