Do you think Sgt. Al Powell was reprimanded for talking to a senior officer like he did? I’m thinking he probably was. We all know that Pal was right in what he said though. Dwayne T. Robinson was a complete arsehole after all. I can’t help thinking he would’ve got in some trouble for it though.
Do you not realize that Die Hard is a fictional story. No scene was ever filmed or even discussed about Sgt Al Pal after the events of this film
shareYou obviously missed the end credits scene where Dwayne started smoking a cigarette with his thumb and index finger and Al correctly deduced that he was in on it with Gruber the whole time (which is why DTR bungled everything so badly - it was intentional). It ends with Al shooting his gun yet again right into DTR's jerk face. Then he gets a life time supply of twinkies as a reward.

shareThere is a pretty wide swatch between reprimanded and fired. Most likely he would have been punished in some way, if even subtly-- passed up for promotion, given lesser assignments, and so on. Alternatively, I can see a scenario where Robinson is demoted or pushed into early retirement, so Powell's insubordination goes unpunished.

shareGood point. I imagine him saving a crowd of bystanders from a gun-wielding terrorist, while live on TV no less, would put the pressure on the powers-that-be to make him a hero, and ignore his previous insubordination.
shareNot to mention it would be some very good PR for the LAPD “Brave cop saves crowd from crazed gunman”. Also, in this day and age they’d be thrilled that a black cop shot a white criminal and not the other way around.
