Overrated
I found this movie to be just not so funny. I love baseball movies. While it was funny, I wouldn't call it hilarious or anywhere near the best sports comedy.

its not overrated, you just dont like it as much as others who have voted
no moive can be over (or under) rated when you have so many people voting
Change 'over' to 'under' and then we'll agree.
shareurrr.. but superbad is worthy of a profile name? Excuse me if I don't trust your judgement.
shareIt never claimed to be hilarious. And it used baseball as a metaphor.
shareYeah not that funny, and just not that good. I can see how some people could like it, but I'm not one of them.
shareI agree, it's honestly more of a chick flick and doesn't have enough baseball.

It's not about baseball, it's about Sex, and the sexes, and romance and mystery and trying to claim something for yourself when the curtain's going down on the love of your life. Baseball is the back drop. It's a great, great movie, an American classic. If anything this film is far too underrated on IMDB. It's one of the great films of the last 30 years.
shareWell, I guess we'll have to agree to disagree, NiKo.

I agree with the OP. It's very overrated. I wish it had more baseball and less sexual politics. I realize some would excuse this film as a farce, and not to be taken seriously. Fine. But if that's the case, why treat Jimmy and Millie's relationship with such respect, as though it could actually happen? That was THE MOST farcical part of this film. He was a bible thumper and she was, well not casting stones, but she was a commitment-phobe who clearly liked playing the field. There's NO WAY she'd have been interested in him, and vice versa.
shareI must say I was quite disappointed after seeing the movie. It was said that this is one of the best sports movies, I just don't agree. I must say I didn't like Field of Dreams either, although it isn't because of the guy. I liked 42 and Trouble with the curve.
