Look at CC's expression...I stopped and thought that it could be a high possibility based on the facials of CC...what do you guys think? LOVEEE this movie by the way! :')

I would say so. In literature, sunset is a symbol of death.

Yes, I think we're to assume that Hillary passes peacefully while sitting on the beach with CC, watching the sunset. It's like the sun setting on her earthly time, and we see a horse and rider galloping off into that sunset...like her spirit flying free...then, it cuts to the funeral. Also--they met on a beach, and they part on a beach. That connects with the title of the film and book (which I HIIIIGHLY recommend reading if you love the movie, btw!!) Beach locations figure prominently in their lives and their relationship.

Yes. She dies with her best friend at her side while daughter Victoria plays, oblivious, with her friends on the beach right in front of them. The camera sweeps over the kids playing while panning to the horseback rider and sunset.

If she didn't die in that cinematic moment, she should've. Otherwise what was the point of that setup?

I don't think she died in that MOMENT, but I think it was the audience's chance to see CC coming to terms with the impending death. A somewhat subtle moment!
