Superboy VS Smallville

I am currently attending the University of Washington, and I have a friend from Texas, whose parents never allowed him to watch much tv. So I have introduced him to Smallville, he watched it and asked a few questions regarding characters and how they fit into the show and he seemed to genuinely enjoy it. However, a couple of days ago, one of Gerard Christopher's autographed tapes arrived (volume 2)and I invited him to watch it with me. He then said that he enjoyed Superboy more than Smallville, I want to stress that he likes SV, but just thought SB to be better. I like Smallville better, but what do you all think?

By the way, if anybody has a copy of the episode "Mindscape", that's the one where Superboy has all the dreams after being attacked by the alien in the meteor (season 3) with a picture sound quality of at least 7, send me a personal message, maybe we can make a deal.

Your oppinions are welcome.
God Bless!

I now have every episode on tape, they are second generation copies, mastered off of tapes recorded when the first aired, there are still a few commercials left in (it's amazing secret deorderant didn't go bankrupt). I have been watching them since they arrived this morning and right now imho, Smallville is just a little better, but now by much.

I'll get back you soon.

God Bless!

I also have chosen to rate Superboy as the victor in this little debate. Although Smallville is still in production and it has a chance to bring itself up (which I have high hopes it will, the season finale was pretty good).

JaredThaJaWelch, Smallville is not a "Superman Adapation", the creators have even admitted that. Smallville only uses the Superman mythos as guidelines, the rest is original work.

As for whats better, since I was only a baby when Superboy was on TV, and I've grown up believeing "Connor Kent", the failed Superman clone (hes half human, half alien) - Smallville is better!

I agree, "Smallville" definitely isn't an exact Superman adaptation, and the creators were right to admit it! "Smallville" is like Superman meets "Dawson's Creek" or "Gilmore Girls". Another teenage drama brought to you by Warner Bros., involving a teen with super powers instead of your average teen. Its not hard to tell "Smallville" is barely based off of the Superman comics/mythos, other than some characters and some other minor things. Way too much teenage drama and so forth. This show is obviously aimed towards teens and young adults.

"Superboy" was an adaptation of Superman! It stuck with the whole mythos and all. Way more loyal to the comics then Smallville ever has been and probably ever will be! "Superboy" more of an action show, with some suspense and twists. And aimed for a much wider audience.

If you're into present day teenage drama kinda shows, then "Smallville" is what your looking for. If you're more into what Superman is suppose to be like, then its "Superboy". But when it comes down to it, "Superboy" is a much better Superman based show.

I'm kind of getting sick of Smallville. The first three seasons Were great! but the new episodes are getting dull and boring. although with the new season coming, things may improve but i seriously doubt it. I'd very much like to see Superboy again. I need something different and Better!

Smallville of course! Superboy is to corny and to 80s for me although when I need a time filler it works.
