The old series would have suffered without Roseanne but the new series wont

Cause everyone needs to face it, Roseanne was awful in the new season, she delivered her lines like she was reading them off a cue card, her timing and delivery just felt off, its like she forgot how to act. She was definitely the weakest of the cast that returned in terms of acting.

Plus the way the show was going Roseanne was more or less a background character anyways, it felt more geared towards Darlene with Roseanne popping up here and there.

Back in the day of the original show in the 90's it couldn't have survived without Roseanne, she was the center piece and her delivery and comedic timing was perfect back then. Unlike now where she sounds wooden as hell and like shes barely remembering what to say half the time.

With Roseanne it was a ratings success. Without her, who's going to watch? Her fans on the Right aren't going to put up with a show without her, and the haters on the Left look down their noses at the types of blue-collar characters depicted on the show. They may tune in for a few episodes, but their disdain won't allow them to continue.

It's a lock to be cancelled. Sooner rather than later.

I would say I'm surprised they're even trying, but I remind myself these are the same morons who yanked a successful show off the air.

Pretty much. But ABC will keep it on despite it being a ratings fail to try to hide another demokkkrat fail. Just like CNN.

The left will watch first episode or two to try to give it a ratings boost. And that’ll be it. They hate middle America and will not be able to stomach more than a few episodes. The right won’t waste their time.

Goodman, Gilbert and Metcalf is a pretty strong cast. If the writing is good, people should give it a chance.
I don't gravitate toward 1/2 hour comedies, but sometimes I wish I did. Never watched Seinfeld with any consistency, sometimes I feel i should binge the whole series. Loved 30 Rock in reruns.

I hope it stays. There was something off with Roseanne this time around. Everyone else was spot on, but Roseanne's timing and acting was really different from the old series.

Lol i love all of you thinking the show is gonna fail without Roseanne, did you guys not see her performance in the new series? She was awful and the worst of the cast that returned, her timing and delivery was horrible. I highly doubt shes the sole reason people tuned in every week to watch. John Goodman and Laurie Metcalf are ten times the actors she is and can easily make the show work without her along with the rest of the cast.

The show will be a success and you'll all be eating your words, Roseanne couldn't act anymore, she had no idea how to deliver her lines or to make them sound natural and bounce off the other actors, she was a broken shell of her former self, the show will be better without her.

It's going to be a train wreck. The only thing stopping it from being cancelled will be the network stubbornly refusing to admit they were wrong.

The people who think like you - that Roseanne was the worse part of the show - weren't tuning in anyway, and still won't. Those who tuned in because of her will ignore the new show, leaving it with only a percentage of its original audience.

And yes, it's going to be fun to revisit this thread in the future.

They weren't wrong. I have no idea if The Conners will last or not (I suspect it won't) but that doesn't mean the network made the wrong decision. You can't have a star of your Network comparing a black woman to an ape or engaging in pizzagate like conspiracy theories. It doesn't matter how good the ratings were, ABC is better without Roseanne Barr on their payroll.

One thing I noticed in this thread is that all the angry Trumpers, despite their raging, never really bothered denying what you said about her acting being off. That says it all right there.

I agree and said something similar a couple months ago. She just didn't have that same...spunk she had in the old days. She seemed uninterested, distant and lacked some of her old flare.

I definitely agree on the "couldn't have survived the 90s" part. She was on top of her game back then and so funny. While I hate that the character will be gone, I'm actually willing to give this spin-off a shot. It will finally give Dan and Jackie a chance to shine on their own.

Finally someone with some sense on this board.

Right back at you. :)

Now I'm wondering if they will kill her character or do sometime else. Death would certainly be final but, if this is a sitcom, it may not serve as a best backdrop. I feel that they should just have her character in rehab somewhere.
