In my opinion, I like Sarah Chalke as Becky, I don't know why but Lecy Goranson was really annoying, although I did like, when she came back after being gone for 3 years, Roseanne and Darlene both said, "Where the hell have you been?"

shareThey changed the character so much when Chalke started. I can't even imagine Lecy's "Becky" working at a Hooters type establishment. When Lecy returned for a few episodes in the later season, they wrote her like the original Becky... wanting to go back to school, etc.
Personally I prefer Lecy. Even when she was a total brat in a few episodes in the second and third seasons, I still preferred her to Sarah.
It's interesting that the producers allowed Sarah to make Becky her own. She had none of the same characteristics as Lecy... even going as far as calling Roseanne "Mom" instead of "Mother".

I like Lecy better, she was on the show longer and fits in better with the cast, she was the original Becky after all. :)
shareFor me it's not a cut-and-dried question. I prefer S1-S5 Lecy to Sarah, but I prefer Sarah to S8 Lecy.
Lecy was terrific in the role before leaving the series in 1992. Upon her return, she was terrible.
