I did think she was a little out there, but the other side of her that Roseanne and Jackie had no idea about was too funny. Like the one where she was in the leather outfit and wearing the 4 inches heels and there was one episode I think she was with Fred and he saw the other side of Beverly.
I think she was violently passive aggressive and Manipulative. However Roseanne was queen of manipulation. Bev did it since Roseanne and Jackie were such bitches to her. It was more of a shield.
My mother is passive aggressive though and I pull my hair out whenever she does her little acts. It's super aggravating and stupid. Just say it! So I empathize with their annoyance.
Bev was a typical parent. She made tons of mistakes when the girls were kids, was bizarrely judgemental, and a pain in ass.
However, she still saved Roseanne and Dan's asses with the 10,000 check, was good to Andy, cooked great meals, and was there when needed.
Parents are annoying and amazing at same time. Their expectations of us is what detours them a bit.
Thanks. It's been a strange few months so I'm a bit more philosophical than usual lol.
When I was a kid my mom was my world. Total mommies boy and she could do no wrong.
Then came the day where I realized she was only human and not what quite what I thought.
But hey parents have issues and pain too, just accept it and work on fixing any issues they embedded into you lol.
20 bucks says I'll do the same to my kids in future. I expect this of them, they do opposite. Circle of life.
Writing this really made me remember what jerks they were to Bev. Jackie especially who became a carbon copy of her.
So what if she stayed silent when AL abused them? It was the freaking 50s! That's what you did to cope. Woman's rights weren't even in the playing cards yet.
I never understood why that era is so glamorized. Everyone repressed their crap, gay guys got married and hit up parks for relief, and women baked cakes and had no rights. Sounds depressing.

I said this before in a previous thread. No, it's obviously not ideal to allow your spouse to spank and abuse your kids. But yeah: it was the 1950s! Women were barely able to talk back to their own husbands back then. It's hard to believe now, in our politically correct times, but this was the norm!
I've notice00d over the years you and I have always shared similar opinions about the characters whether it was about the abortion Drama, Becky's non existent college fund, or Jackie's bizarre treatment to Fred lol.
To be honest I rarely defend Roseanne and Dan as I've always felt their decisions and finance management was.....severely lacking?
