In my mind Mark died with Glen, and since he passed away only a few years after the show ended, I assume that Becky became his widow. However, if Mark had lived, I wonder if he and Becky would have gone the same distance that Dan and Roseanne did. I don't think so. I think that they would have eventually divorced. What do you think? Did Mark and Becky have a solid enough marriage to last indefinitely?
NOTE: I'm ignoring the character rewrite of the final episode.
The Becky Howser episode, IMO, was foretelling that there was a wall in their future. I envision them lasting another 5 years, post show. Then after maybe two kids, they split up and Mark passes away shortly thereafter.
Well, sure. This whole thread is conjecture. If we're being realistic, then we couldn't discuss what happened to them at all once the show ended. This is about how we envision the characters ending up in the made up future. Some of us don't envision Mark living beyond the actor who portrayed him, so we frame his hypothetical future inside what we know happened to Glenn Quinn.
No, Becky had matured past her marriage to Mark in "Becky Howser, M.D." It was a natural progression of a relationship that was more about teenage rebellion than being in love. Mark passed away in a car accident leaving Becky a widow. She moved forward with her medical studies eventually becoming a doctor then remarried/children once settled into her work. Glen passing away meant in my mind that Mark passed away with him.
In the final didn't Roseanne say that mark and Darlene were really together and David and Becky. That Dan had died from the heart attack and she was writing how she thought it should be.
I think it depends. I think Becky definitely would've tried to stay with Mark for the baby's sake, but after a while she'd reach the end of her rope and decide to leave him, but ONLY IF Mark was still Mark after all this time, and made no effort to improve himself for Becky and the baby. He was already pretty much out of that "bad boy" phase by the end of the series, so I don't think there'd be any question of Becky getting tired of his "bad boy" attitude and leaving him because of that, because he already pretty much stopped being a "bad boy" around when they came back and Becky was Sarah Chalke.
So I think they'd still be together if Mark had turned into a sort of Joey Tribbiani type - clearly not the smartest guy, but making an effort to improve himself where possible, especially for the sake of his wife and baby. But Becky would get tired and leave him if he remained so uncaring and rude and "loserly", and Becky and the kid(s?) would move in with Dan and Roseanne.
Especially since they'll still have the lottery winnings in this scenario, so Becky probably wouldn't feel obligated to stay with Mark just because she has nowhere else really to go, because she has her now wealthy parents to escape to.
In the "real" version, where Mark is with Darlene, I wonder how THAT would've turned out? I'd guess Becky and David would be together forever, but I can't see Darlene and Mark ever working out in the longterm, even with the baby. But for some reason I see Darlene running out on Mark and the baby. Man, "real" Roseanne is right, Darlene and Mark just don't work together, I can't see it at all.

I agree--Darlene would get bored of Mark after two seconds flat. She's clearly interested in intellectual things, and Mark has none of it.
What did you mean "real" Roseanne is right, Darlene and Mark just don't work together, I can't see it at all.?
Isn't the "real" Roseanne the very one that espoused the notion that Mark and Darlene were together???
