Plot hole- where did George Stone learn how to ride a horse?

An Italian from the south side of Chicago can just ride a horse like a cowboy from the Wild West?

reply

Good point really

Who knows, maybe he took riding lessons. I wouldn't count that as a plot hole. Only if, early on in the film, Ness said something like, "Hey, George, ever ride a horse?" And George replies, "No, man, I'm an Italian from the South Side. We don't ride horses here, man."

If THEN it shows him on a horse, etc. - now you got yerself a plot hole.

Please nest your IMDB page, and respond to the correct person -

Sure he was taught at first. They just didn't invest in that meaningless part of this plot. Just a waste of an extra few minutes in the story.

Don't forget, this was the twenties. It wasn't uncommon to see transportation by horse at that time. Even in the big cities.

Glasgow's FOREMOST authority Italics = irony. Infer the opposite please.

reply

Interesting thought but definitely not a plot hole. Plot hole infers that the plot could not occur because of a significant mistake. By no means a plot hole.

reply

Yeah. A plot hole would have been if George Stone suddenly WAS a horse in that scene.

While we're at it, how does Oscar know how to operate a pump action shotgun?

Maybe he had a pony. Maybe when he was a little boy in Italy, they all had ponies. And maybe he was a beautiful pony, and he loved him.

You might argue, who figures an immigrant is gonna have a pony? Who leaves a country packed with ponies to come to a non-pony country? I would argue that it makes perfect sense. Especially in light of the fact that he knew how to ride a horse in the movie.

I want the doctor to take your picture so I can look at you from inside as well.

I believe you meant to say, "Pretty, pretty, pretty good."

That's hilarious, where did Costner learn to ride a horse, maybe the Compton pony club.
