Terry O'Quinn is great as Jerry Blake

I watch this movie in the early 90's and remember thinking that its better because of Terry O'Quinn, who now plays Locke on the TV show Lost. He made the movie and with another actor, it would not be the cult favorite it would be today. I have watched him over the years and he just shines now as Locke. The movie is well-done for a horror, psychological flick, but his acting is what clinches it.

Terry O'Quinn is a brilliant and very underrated actor. Excellent performance all the way

When he changed his appearance to the last one he had there preparing to move going balled and the glasses he looked freakishly similar to Denis Ryder (BTK serial killer).

When I watched it again recently. I thought the same thing! Chilling how he looked so much like him isn't it?

This version is loads better than the crappy 2009 remake. I didn't think that was crappy until I saw this one, Terry O'Quinn stole every scene he was in. I m also glad he has found more profound fame; he certainly deserves it. I love the care his character put into his assumed identities and how he secured a new profession and adopted a new wardrobe just brilliant.

We saw it in the theaters back in '87 and it was a fun highlight of an otherwise crappy year. I remember being a bit shocked when we found out he was bald, too! Some of my favorite bits:

- He makes that short speech about the American Dream during the lawn party, almost getting a bit chocked up when his vision of perfection is achingly close. I had neighbor across the street who had, by all counts, the exact version of what Jerry wanted and his tone and diction was one in the same. In a weird twist, we later found all that all wasn't as it seemed with his family, either.

- Jerry heading to the cellar to blow off a little steam. We've all done it at one point in our lives and the we he holds out that knife/tool thing while making outward stabbing motions (and the sounds effect) was just chilling.

- Stephanie's counceller trying to get a better idea of what was going on only to get 2 x 4'd. That one final *click* while Jerry realizes he'd being fleeced "...North" The grinning Real Estate agent is done and The Stepfather takes over.
