Reasons Why this is an Awesome movie :)

1.) Despite it being a satire, it's done with a great deal of love and affection for the original "Star Wars" trilogy as well as a number of other popular sci-fi [and fantasy] films of the time it was made.

2.) Great cast and very good acting. (I'm amazed the actors could keep a straight face when filming some of those scenes).

3.) Is one of Mel Brooks' finest works with his unique brand of humor written into it.

4.) Memorable lines and unique jokes that make people laugh over and over again.

5.) Even the cheesy elements work for it. The play on words for some parts is brilliantly done.

6.) Playing into the joke that the characters know they're in a movie as it's being made, and commenting on it as the story goes along.

7.) Hilarious product placements galore.

8.) Both the good guys and bad guys are funny.

9.) Best comedy gags (both visual and spoken) for a sci-fi film ever.

10.) Great references to other sci-fi movies, like "Alien," "Planet of the Apes," "Star Trek," and "Flash Gordon."

11.) The characters aren't perfect, and that works great for much of the story and the jokes used.

12.) Yogurt and his Merchandising. Kids love the flamethrowers he sells.
