Watching it right now on tv, and Amanda is annoying the hell out of me. I now understand why so many men say women are hard to figure out. She is the chick who chases a well-to-do douchebag who treats her like sh*t, but then dumps on the good guy who stands up for her and treats her well. She then uses said good guy to get back at the douchebag.
During the date scene, she is condescending and ungrateful for the obvious effort and thought the nice guy has put into the date. Yeah, she did have a point that maybe the good guy was trying to show up other people who had doubted his ability to get a date with her. However, it wasn't as if she was walking around so modest and demure about her popularity. I didn't see one redeeming quality in her character at all?

I think she was condescending and ungrateful during the date because he was trying too hard and expected her to know what caviar was and like it because she's hanging out with rich people. Maybe Hardy never took her out and spent that much money on her as Keith in one week. He probably took her to be mall for burgers and sodas, judging by the scene with Keith's sister. He was judging her - birds of a feather flock together. That kind of bs. Who cares how much thought Keith put into the date or how much money he spent if he did not ask her what she thinks? It was his dream date built in his mind, not hers. And when the fancy restaurant brought out a burger she started to warm up more.
shareThat's the point. They both helped each other to grow and stand on their own. Keith saw her at the moments she let her mask drop, melancholy or frustrated, being treated like crap by Hardy. He thought she expected to be wined and dined at five-star restaurants, and given this fairy tale date with a chauffeured limousine, private viewing of an art gallery and sitting on stage alone at the Hollywood Bowl talking. It's like how his father was planning his life out for him, going to business school, and never offering to let him go to an art school which his teacher said he expressed an interest in.
