It starts with Murphy getting his hand blown off with a shotgun, followed by maybe the most over-the-top shooting scene I've ever seen, and its been along time since 1987. I can't remember how many shots were fired, but just wow, with evil grins, lol.
shareEven though I've seen this movie many times, I still feel an elevated heartbeat when I approach Murphy's death scene. It's just cruel and highly graphic. It was shocking when I saw it as a kid, and it's still shocking today.
shareI had never seen anything but the R-rated cut until last year (end of 2015) when Netflix had the UR version and it was crazy! The big difference in Murphy's death scene seems to be how prolonged it is in the unrated version, and also you see his arm get blown off. The R-rated version doesn't show that, all of a sudden you see the arm missing but in the UR version you see the arm get completely blown off.

shareI doubt there's a more graphic movie than The Passion of the Christ. Pick your scene but when he first gets the lashes is God awful; even when you can hear it and not see it. And there were still 90 minutes left.
shareSOME WILL LIST HORRIBLE RECENT FILMS...BUT THE FACT THAT MURPHY'S DEMISE COMES IN A NON HORROR FILM AND THE CHARACTER IS COMPLETELY LIKABLE LENDS ROBOCOP SOME CREEDENCE IN THE CLAIM OF MOST VIOLENT SCENE.

shareIt's vicious, bloody and painful - they keep shooting until their ammo runs out then Clarence finishes Murphy off. What it isn't is gratuitous which is what other 'shocker' films end up being. It's a powerful trauma that Robocop ends up reliving and necessary for the plot to have impact.
