Did Clarence ever know who Robocop was?

I getting the feeling no. But I was wondering if I maybe missed some little details. I know Emil definitely knew. Maybe Emil told Clarence when they all met up again?

I'm sort of rewatching RoboCop right now, and I didn't factor in one important detail that I think is perhaps the only thing that might cue you in that Clarence indeed knows it's Murphy's brain in the cyborg. When RoboCop is tossing Clarence around, through windows, I never thought about it that much, but like Clarence explains later, he's trying to kill him. RoboCop at that point is in conflict with his programming.
It's like he's pretending to make an arrest while still abusing Clarence, trying to overcome his syntax just enough to kill him. Clarence however, the genius criminal and well informed thug of Jones systematically tells RoboCop verbal feedback about how he's working for Dick Jones and that he must uphold the law and that he is a cop. The programming kicks in and RoboCop loses his ability to kill. But he makes the most of it by taunting Clarence, declaring "Yes, I am a cop", and instead of letting him go free, he drags him all the way to the police station and books him.

Later on we of course get the scene where Clarence says, "Look at my face, 'Dick'. He was trying to kill me."
Judging by him working for Jones and interpreting Clarence's way to save his ass, the way he knows that the programming will respond to spoken information as input, he has deep enough inside info on RoboCop to know how he works as a machine, what kind of way he's programmed, what the rules are, and he most probably knows it's Murphy in the suit to boot. I'm sure he was all like, "Oh yeah, that cop I killed. They put him in the suit."
Sure it's a bit conjecture, but Clarence's body language never seem to be much surprise about RoboCop, except for when he's stabbed in the throat. And Emile did learn the identity of RoboCop, and probably informed Clarence, to which the reply must've been, "I know, jack off."
So yeah, slim chance that Clarence doesn't know.

I like to think the reply would have been, "I know, dumbass"

I dont think Clarence recognized him at all. Clarence killed so many people, especially cops. Killing a cop to him is as arbitrary as eating lunch. He wouldn't remember him at all.

Emil only remembered him because they shared a pivotal moment with Murphy repeating his signature catch phrase but then again he could've told Clarence at some point after he was released from prison. Not too much evidence to suggest that though.

Everything suggest that Clarence Boddicker did not know that RoboCop is/was Murphy, but IMHO that's a major plot hole.

When Clarence snitches Dick Jones in the cocaine factory, essentially he is saying "I'm connected to OCP and they own your shiny ass. You can't touch me."

It's a fluke that his "you're a cop" line reminds Murphy of his dedication to law and order. Probably saves his life.

When Clarence later meets Dick Jones in his office, they both refer to RoboCop in a distant manner as the "thing". I would wager that even Dick Jones did not know RoboCop is Murphy nor that Clarence is Murphy's killer.

During their final confrontation at the steel mill, Clarence panics when he realizes RoboCop is not going to arrest him and is genuinely puzzled why RoboCop is taking things so personally.

So why is it a plot hole?

Emil knows RoboCop is Murphy. RoboCop is the biggest news in town. And what, Emil just does not think it's necessary to inform the others after he is released from custody nor when they go after RoboCop at the steel mill?

Very, very implausible.

It's been a while since I've seen it, but here are some thoughts.

It's more than likely that Emil told Clarence about Robo's real identity sometime after their reunion (when they're testing out those Cobra Assault Rifles). But there's no guarantee that Clarence would have believed it. (We know that Emil believed it when he heard, "dead or alive, you're coming with me.")

When Robocop raided the cocaine/crack factory, and was throwing Boddicker through the floor-to-ceiling glass, Boddicker might have name-dropped Dick Jones in a knee-jerk, desperate "Hail Mary" effort to save his own life. I'm on the fence about that line, "You're a cop, aren'tcha?" That doesn't guarantee that Boddicker saw Murphy inside Robocop; it's possible Clarence remembered the cyborg was actually bound by the law.

There are people who think Clarence has killed so many people that he cannot remember who Robocop/Murphy was after seeing him with his mask off. This is not conclusive, because most of his victims ("Can you fly, Bobby??") STAY DEAD. Murphy doesn't.

Boddicker could have recognized Nancy Allen's character when he shoots her in the climactic action sequence, but I think most of the time he just sees people as targets:
i.e., Bang, bang, bang... she's down. Hey, she looks familiar. Oh well, gotta run... Similarly, I think he only remembered Murphy as the cyborg from the drug factory and not the cop he killed back in ... Act I.
